1280x1024 Resolution

1280x1024 looks shite on a 19" TFT let alone a 27"

I would expect a decent 27" to be pushing 3000 pixels wide at the very least.

Yes, i have been investigating, and it seems a proper 27 inch monitor is £1200+

Oh well, it was a nice idea.

Would be fine as a TV though.

My laptop has a 17" WUXGA screen - i.e. 1920 x 1200 in 32-bit colour and looks fantastic. A much lower resolution than that on a screen with close to another foot of diagonal size would not be great for PC work.
