Seeking Insurance Advice on 4RS
Discussion
Apologies in advance—I did a couple of searches on insurance, but the results were overwhelming and mostly unhelpful. Earlier this year, I switched my insurance from a 2018 991.2 GT3 to a 2022 GT4RS. At the time, there was just a minor admin charge and no increase in my premium. Fast forward to renewal, and I’m now being quoted ridiculous figures ranging from £3-8K. For comparison, I paid about £1K last year.
This is unfamiliar territory for me. I’m 47, UK citizen, with one non-fault claim from 2022 (someone rear-ended my daily driver) and an SP30 from last year. I realise this isn’t a perfect record, but it’s probably similar to many other drivers these days.
Any recommendations? So far, Lockton seems like the best option—are there other insurers I should be checking out? I’d expect these issues with cars that were particularly high value, but I didn’t expect it for someone my age living in leafy Berkshire with a Cayman!

Tracker or not?
Garaged driveway or parked on street?
Admiral Aviva Classicline and NFU worth trying of which the first two may well not require tracker activating. NFU changed their policy a few years back and require tracker on £100k+ cars.
Mileage profile doesn't really affect the premium that much assuming its under c4k a year and sdp.
Possibly worth adding girlfriend/partner/wife/mother as named driver which may reduce premium.
Btw is your 4 RS WP because there appears to be an increasing trend of CF adorned cars becoming increasingly expensive to insure due to rapidly rising repair/replacement costs.

Thank you for all your response, to answer some of those queastions. I've estimated I’ll drive 4-5k miles annually and haven’t asked for a guaranteed value. I believe Lockton offers that, along with various other coverages I’m unsure I need. The car has the Porsche tracking system, which seems sufficient for most insurers—does anyone know the approximate annual cost for this?
During winter, the car is parked in a garage, and in better weather, it’s kept in gated driveway in a rural area. I insure it for driveway parking. My girlfriend, who is of a similar age with clean licence, is also on the policy, though this seems to make little difference to the cost.
The car is a 4RS WP, and I suspect the additional carbon fiber could be affecting the insurance premium. However, since even the non-WP version has carbon wings, I doubt the WP makes much of a difference. I’ll give ClassicLine a call today—thanks! I also suspect being in Devon might positively impact the premium.

Without trackday cover I got a very expensive but fair offer from Mannings when I was looking in very late 2023 ... and I asked about a full Manthey GT4RS before Christmas and this was going to cost just £75 more than my 991.2 GT3RS (non WP) at the half way point in my insurance year ...
I ended up using Classic Insurance Services
https://www.classicinsuranceservices.com
The cost of the GT3RS was around £1600 which seemed extortionate at the time ... 5000 miles ... collectors policy ... full no claims discount on other cars ...
I self insure for trackdays which is possibly part of the reason why I am now slower ... though I really enjoy being able to drive home !!

Seems to have rebranded - https://www.kingfisherinsurance.com/ I'll give them a shout too thanks.Unless you have agreed value with your insurer you will get replacement value at best trade value at worst if the car is written off or stolen and not recovered within a specific timeframe
Some GAP type policies may give you invoice cost minus first year VED and delivery cost etc in the first 12 months in the event of a claim but these are the exception.

Bizarrely Admiral can actually be more expensive if you activate tracker also if you keep the car garaged as opposed to on the drive or street.
