Hi all,

I'm looking for some inspiration. Our family bathroom is pretty small at 6.5ft x 6ft and it needs redoing. With 5 of us in the house we'd ideally like a separate shower rather than an over bath one.

I've tried to use one of the design suites on the usual DIY sites but it didn't like the dimensions and wouldn't seem to let me place anything in there other than a toilet and sink!!

If anyone can offer any advice or share pictures of your bathrooms of a similar size it would be much appreciated. Also if anyone could give an idea of cost for redoing it?

I don’t think you have any chance of a separate bath and shower.

I can’t imagine they would get much simultaneous use anyway

My neighbour has them separately in a bathroom the same size. The bath would need to run the width of the bathroom under the window with a shower behind the door. Although I think I will ask if I can measure her bathroom as it seems like their is more space than just the different layout would give.

Fair point about simultaneous use, will give that some more thought.

Could you live without a bath? You should be able to fit a decent size shower cubicle, throne and basin in that space.

Not really I don't think. We've got 3 daughters of infant and junior school age so they prefer a bath and so do we to be honest. There was just a shower in when we moved and we put the bath in shortly after.

Wife didn't want to do away with the bath when we were doing our old bathroom with similar dimensions. Solution suggested was a wider bath which turned out to be a game changer for baths and showers, little bit extra room to move around on both counts.

Much the same dimensons as the OP.
We have a bath with a large rainfall shower over the bath.
Towel radiator is behind the door and underfloor heating was laid under the tiles on the floor.

It’s do-able but depends entirely on the constraints of the room - door & window position, soil pipe for toilet. Post up a floor plan and you might get some help. Or, go to any of the sheds that have a free bathroom design service (eg Wickes).
