Mrs Marky and myself will be spending the month of April in Nerja.
Looking for info on local things to do, visit ect.

The caves are pretty cool for a few hours.

We stayed in Frigiliana a few minutes drive away last year, which would be nice for a wander around, dinner etc. I loved walking in the hills around there, depends how active you want to be.

There's a petrol station / cafe Axarquía on the corner of the A-7 highway exit that does the most amazing plates of iberico ham

Then there's the small beach at the Balcón de Europa and the caves

The Alhambra is a must see, and Málaga is actually really lovely. If you're prepared to travel a bit further then Ronda is spectacular and if you want to be active the Caminito del Rey is also well worth it.

Yes a month. Mrs Marky has just retired (60) and fancied a month in Spain. I have left it all down to her and she has sorted a nice 2 bed Airbnb 33 nights and flights all for £1200. We are planning for family and friends to visit at the weekends, as all they will have to pay is flights.
And to a previous, we are pretty active and enjoy a bit of hill walking.

Nerja is a nice little town, and a good base for exploring further afield, as others have suggested. My daughter did some pony treks up into the hills, so I imagine the trails are also walkable

As mentioned above Malaga is a very underrated city and is worth a trip to.

How's your head for heights?? The Caminito del Rey is definitely worth the trip.

4 out of the top 10 restaurants in Nerja according to TripAdvisor are Indian Restaurants ( or they were last June).

I've spent quite a bit of time in Nerja, beautiful place with loads of shops and restaurants. As others have said, visit Frigiliana which is a short drive, gorgeous in the evenings, several really lovely restaurants.

All good advice. Ronda from either Malaga or Granada isn’t actually that long to drive and wonderful roads to enjoy.

Nerja is a lovely spot. As with many coastal places, it’s very seasonal. I have been between Xmas and new year and it’s very much just the locals, but far from dead. Likewise I was there in July just gone and it was unbelievably rammed. You had to just follow the crowd through the jammed streets like a crowd leaving a stadium.

Would highly recommend trying the restaurant Oliva in the square. Spectacular food at reasonable prices.

If you venture further afield Seville is worth a visit... around 3hrs from Nerja, but stay there overnight

We really enjoyed visiting Cordoba - similar distance to Ronda, bit of a schlep up the motorway but just about doable as a day trip...

Frigiliana is worth visiting, and as others have said Malaga is lovely

We stayed 10 mins down the coast from Nerja a couple of months ago - but this was the second part of the holiday after we'd done the sightseeing and just collapsed in the resort, so didn't see much of the local culture immediately around there!

Bear in mind if you're intending to visit the Alhambra, you have to book well in advance
