The Var (France)
Discussion
This summer I shall mostly be west of Carcès in the Var region of France.
It's not an area I know at all - other than knowing Cotignac is close by and somewhere to visit.
Is anyone intimate with this area and might you have some suggestions for visits, restaurants, days out etc?
Google and Street View is obviously very helpful, but it's not quite the same as some good local knowledge.

I only really know Cotignac in that area but really like it and will be returning again in September. The combination of rosé and too much sun means I don’t always remember the details of my trips but maybe the following will be of some use:
Lavender fields at Lavensole
Beautiful reservoir at Lax de Sainte Croix where you can rent a boat and explore. Take cash for rental as cards not widely accepted.
Bauduen is a little town on the reservoir with charming restaurants and great views.
Lots of nice restaurants in Cotignac but ‘Picotte Provence’ is probably our favourite. Menu is limited but changes often.
The only thing I dislike about the area is some of the residential roads around the towns and villages are a pain to navigate. Unmade, (barely) single track, steep, no passing places… The locals don’t seem to find it a problem though so maybe just me.
