Starter Turn Table for a 16 year old

My daughter has locked herself away to study for GCSE and loves music.
She was peaking about vinyl and I’ve just seen how much it is now.
Can anybody recommend a good turn table as a study support present
I’ve seen a auto technic which is Bluetooth plus heard of Thorens and Technic
But no idea about amp and speaker set up. Hence surprised at Bluetooth in them now

ProJect make a good budget turntable for usually under £200.
But then you need an Amp and speakers so it won't be particularly cheap.
My daughter has a Crosley which looks like an old suitcase record player from the 60s.
Speakers in the case but it's very budget in feel and sound.

You can get Bluetooth turntables which pair to active Bluetooth speakers (or headphones) - the ProJect mentioned above is one, also Audio Technica do them.
These do away with thr need for an amp (and phono stage if the amp doesn't have one) but over Bluetooth the sound quality will never be that great. And when speakers you are still looking at circa £300-£400.
Probably the most straightforward way to start playing vinyl that you would actually want to listen to though.

Powered bluetooth speakers will then work with a phone / tablet etc as well as the turntable.
Loads of options to be honest, just depends on the budget. Project do a great setup with bluetooth amp, speakers and turntable, but it's more than x3 the price of the one above.

Has she (or you?!) checked the price of Vinyl?? I got a TT last year with the secondary benefit of getting my daughters into owning their music on physical media rather than streaming everything - unfortunately I didn't check the price of vinyl first and they have no interest in spending that much ££ on records! Should have bought them a CD player.....

Vinyl is about the same real value as it always was. £10 in 1985 is £38+change today.I happened to pass HMV over Christmas so I popped-in. Prices from around £18 to £40 so not massively different to when I last bought any.
I bought my O/H a set over Xmas,
Opted for the Bluetooth Audio Technica version though.

This is the lowest price "proper" turntable available, imho. Circa £160. Another £100 just about gets you the LP120, which is far better, but the LP60 is still decent. Edited by TwigtheWonderkid on Friday 17th January 16:46
