Was chatting to a women in the pub last night who was setting up her own cleaning business. The amount she was thinking of charging, at least to me, would barely if ever going to cover her costs. I told her what I thought she should charge, but wondered what you lot are paying or would pay.

I think we pay around £30 an hour in Nottingham - she provides her own cleaning equipment and consumables.

£15 an hour for 2 hrs a week. She brings her cleaning stuff but uses our Dyson.

She's here at the moment so I'm hiding upstairs and desperately waiting for her to go so I can have some lunchlaugh

Does she also turn up in a Ferrari? wink

That seems quite high

Zero, I'll just do it myself.

Previous end of tenancies etc. (2/3 bed houses) its been about £200 for a full property clean, usually takes them about 4 hours with about 3 people.

We're about £25/hr/person, for 2 people for 1 hour once a week. They bring all their own gear and consumables.

That is following a fairly major hike recently, they were about £17/hr. We shopped around at that point, but found what they are charging now to be about the going rate.

Is that for both, or each?

£16 an hour for us. Comes every couple of weeks, only does the top two floors though, so takes about 2 hours.

So less than minimum wage in a couple of months time.

£15 for us in the Cotswolds

In Devon our housekeeper charges £150 for a changeover, that's around 4 hours and includes changing beds and towels and putting out the welcome pack

We don't have a cleaner but when I was considering it the going rate was £15-18p/h

One woman charged extra for doing bathrooms.

That’s punchy for Nottingham. We’ve never paid more than £15 there.

We were paying £15 an hour for 2hrs a week, but gave up in the end as they were so flakey. The first one dumped us after deciding we were too far from her home ?! Second one left to look to be a carer for her gran. Third one gave us such a list of requirements before she even started, that we made our excuses. The first one would stop for a 20 minute tea break half way through. Neither of them would do, by my standards, a decent job. We would expressly say that we rarely use the top floor (new build townhouse obvs), so it would only need a quick tidy once a month, but they would still insist on going up there every week. I would also have to go round doing all the bits they had missed, so in the end we just gave up on the idea.
