Damp/wet track day tyres

Asking for some advise here
I’ve got a ZX6RR race bike which I use for track days.
Trouble is I only have a set of slicks for my bike so that restricts how often I use it due to the questionable weather.
I was weighing up a set of wets, I’ve heard they’re amazing, but am concerned that if it’s not really really wet on track they will get destroyed.
So I was wondering if a set of decent wet orientated road tyres would do a good job in the slightly less wet conditions I’m more likely to encounter?
Or any other recommendations?
I have done a bit racing in the past and can hold my own in the fast group, but have never ridden in the wet and I fancy giving it a go.

Get wets, if its damp stick a dry rear in and a wet front, if you start to feel tread block movement come in.

I'd quite often use a wet front and dry rear if it was damp/early in morning and cold.

Wets are amazing grip like you can't believe. What group do you run in? What slicks do you use?
I tend to use Dunlop TT Heat up quick grip well but good enough on a damp track.

I run in the fast/expert group (whatever you want to call it) and I use Metzeler Racetec TD slicks.
Feel like I might just look into getting some wets in that case.
I've heard nothing but good things about them, just worried about destroying them if its not all that wet.
I think the main issue is I've never done any wet riding so am just nervous.
Luckily I do have a set of spare wheels already.

As you have a spare set of wheels then go for a set of wets. If you get a secondhand set for 100 quid then there's less concern about killing them on a track that's only slightly damp.

I'm just back from a slightly damp Portimao trip and planning on selling my track bike and spares afterwards so had no qualms about trying to ruin the wets! Not only are they astonishing in the proper wet they are great fun and surprisingly resilient when the track is mostly dry - just need to be a tiny bit patient on the throttle on corner exit.
