E43 or 400d?

E43 or 400d?

12k per year

Mostly long motorway trips, including France and the odd trip to Germany.

400d makes sense today, but with tightening LEZ zones, isn’t the 400d more of a concern?

It's the 400d, it meets all euro6 regs & the regs are being set by emissions (remember we don't even have euro7 yet,

The next changes will be for petrol cars.

I have a 400d & it's superb, I went to non run flats & up on the tyre sizes.

Out of the non AMG E Classes the E53 is the pick.

What’s sort of mpg do you average on the 400d? And any issues with the AdBlue system? I am debating myself between the 400d and 450 having owned the last generation 400 petrol which I really enjoyed but the 450 has the 48v eq boost which I am not sure how reliable it is.

No issues at all, mine is mapped & does mainly motorway, so I've averaged 43.6 on the last 8k.

I'd go E43/E63...if buying approved used- AMG comes with 2 years warranty as opposed to 1 year on a E400. I had an E400d for about a month whilst my E63 had some warranty work done, vibration through the pedals and shudder through the bulkhead was awful imo. MPG about 28/29 vs 21/22 in my E63 with same use.

400d. its quicker in the real world also. Mega engine.

Wouldn’t the petrol be less likely to succumb to inner city restrictions, second guessing into 3 years or so ?

Obviously the petrol will cost more in fuel.

Nope as the 400d is euro 6.
