OK, from what I can gather, Noble cars on on the whole, relatively reliable and horror story free (for what they are).

I am looking at getting an M12 GTO 3R and have two general questions:

1) smoked rear lights. V. nice, but how much?

2) Is £3K per annum a reasonable service/repair budget for a car which will be lightly tracked but driven extensively at weekends (circa 7K miles per annum). Are the service intervals EVERY 6K?

3) What are consumable like cost wise, discs, pads etc.

4) Have any nobles made it above 10K miles and lived to tell the tale? Surely there are some 2.5s knocking about with highish milage.

Thanks,

Adrian

Mine has done 20k miles now, no major problems to date.
servicing if you budget around £1000 per 6k miles i think this is a relistic amount.
Consumables, pads around £140 a set, also i know Justin ( joust) had all disks and pads replaced for around £1k mark.
If you are going to track it, i would sugesst changing to the corsa tyres and maybe nitron or olins suspension. Very rare to hear of engine failure on these cars, i have been a member on this foroum for around a year and not heard of a standard engine letting go. Just make sure you have the track sump before you go tracking it.
My car is a early 3 litre. Hope that helps.

Just to add to the very informative reply Alex posted.

Smoked Lights - Marcos Afterburners are one choice at around £400, or we will have a rear light solution available in the near future.

As for surviving 10,000 miles - no problem. I know of one very heavily tracked car with 38K miles on it and one mildly tracked car with 44K on it.

Best Regards
Matt

early 2.5, almost 17.5k miles on it. driven 1hour each day on return trip to the rail station. So far no wear and tear for me in my 1 year (7.5k) of ownership and expecting a bill of 700-1000 for upcoming service.

Passed its first MOT earlier in the year also

Mines is a 2004 3R, 13,000 miles in 14 months. One track day. No major problems to report. Never broken down.

Contrast that with 14,000 miles in 18 months in new GTO3, lots of track days, lots of problems, 5 breakdowns.

GTO 3R 2004. 6k miles to date 2 trackdays and no breakdowns (except for a little bump!!)

1 x ball joint and hub went and Noble fixed under warranty in the 14th month. (they agreed it should have lasted longer than that!)

Couple of rattles and niggles all fixed promptly by Kerridges.

Love it and can't think of a better car I would want to swop to right now! (budget allowing)

Greg

ps. I am the mug who tried to use a max power rear light spray tint kit on my car.

Suggestion............get the afterburners!!

Hello - Noble M12 GTO-3 nearly 2 yrs old, 7000 miles, one service at Noble factory, one track-day, no real problems - just a couple of niggles. Service £700 and really worth getting done at the factory. Hope that helps, Mike.

My 2004 3R has 30k miles on it. I've only had it a couple of months but in the 4k miles I've used it for there have been no problems.

2004 3R, exactly 1 year old, 2 track days and 8 1/2k.

ARB broke (crap welding)
Hub nut has come loose twice.
Silencer braket broken twice (Hasn't everyones?)

Minor niggles sorted out by Noble with no fuss.

I love my car!

Martin.

Very early 2.5 Chassis no.12. 29k miles no problems other than those created by over exhuberance and dodgy electric gates !

Had my 2.5 for 6 months (12,000 miles). Can't say it's been uneventful: spent £4000 so far on things that, whilst not major, should have already been done (overheating, ball-joints etc. and spent 12 weeks in the garage being resprayed, but that's not the car's fault).
Anyway, it's running beautifully now, and has never had any major mechanical problems or failures...which is pretty damn good when you think about it.
Should expect to pay a bit, anyway. It's not a Fiesta, eh?

It's a long arduous tale (which I'll abridge). I bumped the front end and had it repaired. The original spray shop had 3 or 4 attempts and couldn't match the colour (they've since gone out of business). After all that arsing around, Vegantune offered to have the whole car resprayed at a place up North, recommended by the factory. Obviously, the car had to join the queue. It's all done now (I'll post some pics). It was a long waste of a summer, but it wasn't really Vegantune's fault. As always, they've gone out of their way to set it right, and I'll continue to take my Noble to them in the future.

Was 'satan black' a deliberate slip of the finger? It is satin black, but not quite as matt as I'd have liked it. Still, I'll probably be thankful of that in the near future: it shows every fingerprint as it is.
I'll take a few shots this weekend

Looking forward to seeing them.

I must say that I was not liking the idea when you said it a few weeks ago but after seeing the race car and the M14 mule, I like the colour a lot more!!

What about those red light pods! That looked great!
