I’d go straight back to the Casa Milla. But I’m a Gaudi fan and when we went it was the height of the summer and we had a candlelight night concert on the rooftops. Maybe mid Jan isn’t as warm!

If you’re only there a short while, I’d be tempted to just around the town. The old town was pretty cool. But just watch out for pickpockets - it’s rife (or used to be) in the touristy parts.

We were there late December
16 degrees and clear skies

Hop on Hop off bus for 24 hours
Cable car down to the marina
Montjuic if you have kids
Walk la rambla and go into the side streets for shopping.

Bus from the airport is a doddle.

It's a great city.

I'm following this thread because I'll be there for a couple of days in March. Looked up where the 3 Brothers is... and it's about 150m from my hotel. Brilliant, I know where I'll be eating, thanks.

Maybe a ten minute walk away from the lower end of the Rambla, this place is a proper locals bar serving amazingly cheap local cava.

When we lived in Barca, that was a great place to go but you have to buy some food to be able to drink from memory.
Some things to do if you have a week:
- Go to Tibidabo on the mountain where there is a small theme park but there are great city views and a cafe
- Used to say a tour of Camp Nou but save that for another time
- Mont Juic - Olympic stadium, olympic diving pool (It used to open to the public, castle on the top followed by cable car down
- Poble Espanyol - A small village behind closed doors...... Went to see a portishead concert here once
- Palau de musica -
- Gaudi buildings.... amazing
- Sagrada Famillia - Book in advance
- Parc Guell -
- Sitges for a day out is nice with great beaches - can go on the train

Note that eating out is much later and many restaurants did not open until 9pm... might have changed

Places to eat which are good but not top end expensive
- Flamant on Enric Granados
- Paco meralgo
- El Filete Ruso - Enric Granados
- La Tagiatelli - Diagonal
- On calle Aribau - there is a secret restarrant in a laundrette ... not sure what it is called but I lived close to it and it was excellent

We always have a few of their plates of tapas so never an issue with us.
