Morning, second part of my car buying dilemma is here, perhaps the more boring part.

Still having an internal battle with myself over 1x 4-seat decent car for every day, i.e. Bentley Continental GT or 992 911 Turbo S (as I need occasional use back seats for small kids) or sticking with the 720s/Huracan/488 (720s idea is winning) with something for every day (this idea would probably be the easiest but more expensive).

Taycan is going and I won't be replacing with electric and the 911 is also on it's way.

So with an eye on a budget of about £75/80k I have started looking at something like this...

But the GTS also looks nice, and newer for similar money.

I've decided it's got to be a V8.

Is there anything I need to know about a Cayenne of this age? Anything to look out for. I know Porsche pretty well as I've had a few over the last few years.

Maybe something like this is the way forward?

Just my 2p as I have zero Cayenne experience..

The interior of that particular X5 would sway me towards it, it looks like a nicer place to spend time than the dark Cayenne interiors of the other examples. The exterior colour is awesome too.

Can't be more helpful than that really..

A little left field:

I was considering an SVR but in the end went for the M3 as I have never been 100% on the SUV idea...

DBX I quite like, not sure I see the value in the SVR over the X5

I know the answer is to go and drive them all but that would take me ages so trying to narrow it down.

Apologies for the late reply, but I went through the same choice six months ago.

I dismissed the X5 because for me it was not special enough, and the ride is too firm.

Audi SQ8 Vorsprung competent, comfortable but very dull.

(left field) Merc E63 wagon, awesome engine, but cheap inside, firm ride, generally unrefined -would only enjoy 1% of the time.

Really liked the SVR -another awesome engine, good ride, comfortable, well equipped, but Mrs. V10Mike didn't like the seats.

Didn't realise the DBX was in budget but bork factor would make me nervous.

Ended up with a Cayenne Turbo. Not easy to get the right one because of all the options, not many Turbos out there. Mine has PDLS+, HUD, RWS, Bose, 4-zone climate, Innodrive. I'd have like sports exhaust and active anti-roll but nothing available. I'd advise MY2020 onwards to get wireless CarPlay. Porsche really does feel another level of quality over the others, particularly in the sophistication of how it drives. Will waft along when you want it too, but amazingly fast and precise when you get a move on. Takes a while to get to know, however, so may not impress on a short drive.

What about a Bentayga V8? Are they down to that level yet?

Or if it doesn't have to be an SUV how about these instead wink

I keep coming back to these - based on all the alternatives I still think the Cayenne is the best in class, followed by the X5M (or possibly the M60i if you'd prefer a somewhat less gangster feel). My only grievance is the reduced boot space in the Cayenne (or indeed any phev) due to the battery.

Is it me or is the front door of the blue Merc mis-matched?

I don't like the Bentayga, does nothing for me.

AMG GT, maybe, I'm not convinced the interiors don't look very outdated already.

Have you considered the Levante (mainly just the engine!): https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202411136...

Only thing I can think of is the oil strainers to the turbos may be the same as the RS6 - there’s an Audi recall for them as if they break up they’ll trash the turbos, don’t know if the Porsche is the same or if a recall exists.
And yes, 100% on the V8 smile
