I would like a bec
Discussion
I sold my amg a while ago and was meant to px for an mk indy with a r1 engine, it didn't look mint or perfect but for 5k id of had it but for some reason it didn't happen (i think the guy who took mine probably regretted saying 5k for his and has pretty much not come back to me.
Ideally id like a busa engine mk indy or westfield type thing. Not too old, fully sorted.
This looks the part but is it? (not busa)

This one which sold a while ago would be the absolute ideal, looks like a bargain to me.

Does anyone know of anything this sort of money? Where to look? i have tried eBay, ph, at, collecting cars, locost builders, mk website.
Its all either too old, too tatty or too much £
The westfield above i must admit i like. Been for sale a while too, might be negotiable.
I have also never been in one or drive one so i am slightly concerned about the bike engine but the appeal of high revs and light weight sound good. I have been in a mates 620r and its the only car i have ever been in which made me feel sick
i also drove a r500 he had with sequential and that was great.
Based on that i still wonder should i get car engine. But the non sequential puts me off. They are more plentiful though.

Get on the Facebook kit car groups, such as the Locost or Robin Hood owners groups - don’t be out off by the names as they cater for a wider range of ‘seven’ style kits and there are always a number advertised for sale there.

It’s worth adding that the Kit Cars market is quite seasonal, so it may look quiet now for sale adverts but will get busier in the spring.

Look at Fisher Fury's as well.....
Theres a faceboook page for them too.
Some Bike engines need to be dry sumped, and some dont. Busa definitely, whereas some R1's only need a valve adding to the oil supply.
BEC's are fabulous on track, and ok on the road, transmission can be a bit clunky at lower speeds.
Busa would be my choice, and Ive considered turning my Caterham into a Busa car, but its about £14k to convert.

I bought a used Mk Indy R GSXR1000 in the summer.
Checkout MK website/ Facebook groups and EBay. Not many go on Autotrader. That one on Collecting Cars looked a great buy.
The driving experience makes everything else seem completely dull. Fantastic high revving engines and 60 feels like your going 100. Every time you drive feels like an event.
MK got an open day I think on 1st Feb probably worth going to and speaking to other owners.
My main word of caution is BEC are harder to live with. Some garages won’t touch them so can be hard to find somewhere to get someone to work on it for you if you’re not good with a spanner.
The positives of the raw driving experience are also their negative. Bike clutches are notoriously difficult to master in a car and many have their reversers needed for IVA disconnected leading to potential embarrassing situations out on the road.

I will look into the mk open day, they aren't that far from me. The one on collecting cars looked bloody perfect but i would like to experience one. I don't mind loud and clunky, i like it. Im not sure if it will be better or worse than id expect.
Do seven type cars 'feel' a lot different with a normal engine, say a zetec? I mean handling feel iykwim.

I have tried a lower powered caterham K series on track and loved the very direct handling but I thought long term I would get bored of the engine. In terms of handling haven’t had mine on track just yet to fully explore the limits. The Mk still feels very direct, just like the caterham. Don’t reckon the MK would differ too much with a heavier Zetec in it.
There was a zetec powered MK at a similar price point to the one I bought but reckon if I had gone with the Zetec I would have always had that niggling thought I should have gone with the BEC.
