Size of Single Garage Advice
Discussion
After the recent storm it looks like its now time for me to remove my existing sectional concrete garage and replace it with a new one.
The existing one is 2.6m wide by 5.5m external sizes but I could make the new one slightly bigger as I always thought that it was too small.
What size would be optimal for my 991 911 or any future car?

My old single garage was 2.8m x 6m and was ok for working on the smaller old classics (Morris and MGB) but new place has a double which is 6m x 6m and it ok, but as ever I do keep thinking "if only it was 7m x 7m. but then I know I would then be thinking if only is was 8m x 8m etc.
If it's only parking then you could get away with 3m x 6m
But remember the above you will start wanting 3.5m x 6.5m and then.......

As big as you can.
Is the right answer. You can never have enough room for moving around the car, opening doors, storing tools and other stuff...Take care with sizes, check with planning the maximum size for a single garage, the original planning will be for a single. If it is too big you will get a visit from planning requesting you apply for planning permission for a double
I had a garage built and told him the size he wanted, he suggested 200mm less to keep it a single.
Guess what after it was built up pops enforcement officer with tape measure. Glad I listened to builder I was able to send officer on his way with tail between his legs

Out of interest OP, did you put your 991 in your current garage? My garage is very similar dimensions and I'm in the process of clearing it out and planning a solution to get my 991 in. No scope to increase the size unfortunately.
Sorry I didn’t ever try the 991 in it. To be honest it didn’t look like I’d get the doors open but after reading through the comments I actually think it might have.clan said:
