Hi, I have couple of planning questions if someone can help please.

We are looking at doing loft conversion and extension. Extension will ne late next year while we want loft done ASAP. We are not in any Conservation area. With our council the loft conversion is permitted development while the extension beyond 3m needs full planning permission. We were hoping to submit one application with loft and extension together to save on architect costs for now.

1. Is it possible to actually start loft conversion under permitted development while the application is being assessed.(we will of course have party wall Etc on place as needed).

2. Are we creating any problems by combining both works into one application rather than do one now and do the other later?

3. In general is the planning apnt loft for 3 years?

Thanks for reading my message.

Why are you applying for planning for the loft if it's PD? You could get a no which means you can't have it rather than just doing it?

no application needed for the loft,

the extension just go under neighbor consult scheme, upto 6m.

no planning needed

Thanks for your reply but your point re extension is not correct. 6m is not universal. It is the national framework but local councils can amend this and our council had amended this to mean that anything more than 3m needs full planning application.
