Why would you have to pay for something that you don't use?

If it's moved to a government taxation model then where's the BBCs impartiality?

Ideally it should be a advert-model.

The BBC sells a lot of its content world wide too so it is a commercial enterprise.

If they lump it in with general taxation at least it can drop the pretence of impartiality.

I would rather they made it subscription. That would also force a reappraisal of a different kind.
