Evenin' all!

I'm currently driving a 2023 Honda Civic EHEV. I've only had it a year

Pros:
Modern, servicing for five years, cheap to run (60MPG), and nobody seems to own one!

Cons:
A bit of a harsher ride than I'd like. I'm having back issues and struggle getting in and out.

Anyway...I've been seriously considering changing this for a 2017 Lexus RX450h. It would cost me £80 more a month and slightly more on insurance. However, it's soooo much more comfy, classy and easier for me to get in and out of.

My sensible side says, stick with the Honda...but my heart says, we only live once, treat yourself.

My concerns for the Lexus would be: more expensive insurance, less MPG, more expensive servicing (this is a con in comparison to my Civic). I'll also be losing about £1000 in negative equity by changing so soon.

Help me decide - what should I do?

I've also considered a newer Skoda Karoq, but not sure?

Um, bit hard to advise without knowing your requirements and use case.

Loads of motorway miles, 30k miles a year?
3 kids and 2 dogs?

All I can gather is you want something a bit higher up with a comfortable ride.

People aren’t mind readers. And I won’t lie, never come across someone considering a Karoq and a Lexus RX before.

Sorry, yes, maybe I should have made my original post clearer.

My main aims are:
1) to be able to get in and out easier
2) to be more comfortable

Mixed driving - some weeks, predominantly school runs and odd trips, other weeks, long distances.

budget is around £25K (the Lexus RX I'm currently looking at is a 2017 model in pristine condition full service history with Lexus etc for £22K.)

Given the age of the RX, I’d expect bills to start coming just through age. New bushings, gaitors etc even if the RX is low mileage. If you are comfortable with that?

What about a newer NX? The hybrid setup on those are best in class for fuel economy. Should get a few more MPG than an RX.

Mind you both these Lexus models suffer from cat theft. I discounted the NX and RAV 4 entirely because of this when I was looking for a family SUV.

For comfort and great seats that are good for your back, Volvo is also a good shout, although as a brand, in general, their MPG’s aren’t great. XC40 or 60?

Hmm...Volvo is something that always slips my mind! I'll take a look at the new NX's too.

Cheers.

Although I had my heart set on a RX450h (from around 2017-ish), for the same price, I can get a newer NX. However, I've read some mixed reviews online. I'll organise a test drive at some point, but does anyone here have / had an NX that can provide their opinon?

If you can afford it without any hardship and it makes you happy go for it!
