Just mentioned this in another post, so thought I would start a thread on it so we can all moan and complain as per usual.. hehe

I think it was pretty obvious last year was dire.... now with the big Saltire stand missing.. what will fill that hall up?

Shrinking by the year, but have a few TT, BSB, exMotogp riders going this year..

And of course.. we all needed the ticket prices to go up!

So who else is going? smile

Not a chance, if I’m going to a bike show I’ll fly to London for the day.
The Scottish one hasn’t been worth the run from Aberdeen for years!

I went to it once many many years ago as I was visiting a friend up in Scotland at the time.

It was awful compared to the NEC and that's saying something. I feel for you guys North of the border as it's a pretty captive audience and anything is better than nothing I guess.

I thought the concensus from last year was it was better than previous years? I remember the Saltire stand having signs stopping you sitting on the bikes and being generally unwelcoming so no loss really.

Not sure if I'm going this year.

ETA: tbh the manufacturer lineup looks better than last year. No Indian (KEEPOFF!!!) boohoo, Norton & CCM instead, yay!

I quite liked it last year compared to the previous time I went a few years ago. Will probably pop along for a bit.

I considered going (for a split second) but decided that I'm not interested in a Hello Fresh recipe box subscription after all. laugh

I'm in Malaga at present & get to see a much wider range of bikes parked in the bike-bays during the 10 min walk to the city centre than anything I'd see at Ingliston.

Do people still go to bike shows?

I can't think of anything worse than walking round a bike showroom or show, I'd rather be out riding and buy stuff online.

I love going to the bike show. Not the Scottish one as I live in East Anglia, but we have a trip to the NEC every year. I haven't bought a new bike since 2003 but it's a great excuse for a social meet up with mates and have a mooch around and a laugh while looking at nice new bikes and trying on a jacket or whatever you're after if you want.

Can't help but think that just doing everything online means you miss a lot of experiences, but to each their own!

Strange how some people like different things isnt it.

I moan about the Bike show every year but still go, Yes the new bikes and the trade stands are getting fewer, further between, more expensive and poorer quality but the classic bike display through the back is worth the admission fee on its own I think. Some glorious machines that you would just never see out on the road.

Some ste too but theyre easily avoided smile

You may laugh but the wife and I do Hello Fresh and we got an amazing deal at the Birmingham Show. hehe

I might have popped along to Ingliston but I’m on holiday anyway.

Some people only go so they can moan about how bad it's become... got to go through the pain first. hehe

I keep hoping there is something new/fresh/different but seems to be in decline every year, and the same st bikes in the show section, my daily is in better condition than many of them.. I see people saying it was good/better than before, but I honestly can't see it.

I appreciate I'm part of the problem, not the solution... but I just can't be arsed anymore..

I think having to stand up for the poor (untrained) girl who made a simple mistake on the food till from her "boss" trying to shout and belittle her in front of a packed canteen was really the end for me, I don't like bullies.

I go every year, because it's the best way to get to see and sit on everything. Plus it's still freezing here, so nothing else bike related to do. Just got another 8 inches of snow last night, ugh... Better get the shovel.

I was sitting on the fence with this, I think it's garbage but the o/h enjoyed it the other year when she went (she's Polish it was probably just like Disney land for her). I might have paid the £25 on the day (£20 advanced tickets with a £2:50 booking fee on top). But I've just discovered it's £10 to park the car.

Away take a flying fk at yourself. £60 before a baw is kicked to go round look at fudge and macaroon stands, with the occasional bike amongst them.

Id rather spend my Sunday afternoon walking around IKEA at that price.

With Saltire not being there that will put a dent in some of the new bikes on show - no Indians for a start.

But I always just spend my time mooching about in the classics hall. There’s always some really interesting bikes there; far more appealing to me than all the new stuff. And lots of other old fogeys to natter with. And of course all the club stands, also with a great selection of bikes; mostly I’ll be hanging about the VMCC stand flying the flag.

I’m taking 3 bikes along - all Indians. And I’ve entered the ‘47 Chief in the start-up sessions out the back. Hopefully it will behave and fire-up.

I always look forward to it and enjoy it; it’s good to see the old bikes and catch up with folks. But I guess if you’re only going these to see shiny new bikes and manufacturers’ stands then maybe it isn’t so great?

Startups are at 1:30 both days, outside the big side doors of the classics hall. Unless, of course, it’s pissing with rain. I always think it’s a shame more folks don’t volunteer to start their bikes up, but I guess quite a few are show ponies.

A tenner is a bit much… money for nothing, well maybe a small price to pay for your bike not being stolen off the Edinburgh rats that the police are scared to sort out.

I’m actually now looking forward to seeing 1 particular stand/company… I’ve been alerted that they’re showing my old bike as their own work, so I’ll be interested to see that and ask some questions about it.

KTM had a pretty big stand last year? Wonder what that’ll look like, if anything this year.

I’ll need to be nice to Kawasaki if they’re there, still have my bike getting the engine rebuilt (it’s not to be ridden at its potential apparently)… actually that may be a nice conversation to have in a public setting too…

hehe

Bikes are free but defeats the purpose of going to a show like this I feel. They naturally promote the stalls selling biking accessories.
How the fk do you get a second helmet home, or a set of leathers on a bike.

Plus it's likely to be Baltic and roads salted so not ideal to take the bike. The fiver parking used to piss me off, youre just parking in a grass field. This is just taking the piss.

It think it was a tenner at the NEC when I went last year. £18 on the day but at least you got a bus from the car park to the door.
