Is there anything that can be done about a poor digital TV reception?

I have a freeview box and it used to be ok when I had a video recorder in the set up but that broke so has gone, and now there's just the DVD player.
I've tried it both with and without the DVD player and the signal remains the same.
Some Channels I can get ok, for example I can watch E4+1 but not E4! BBC is ok but Channels 4 and 5 are terrible. It goes all pixilated and jittery and sometimes just black!

We had the same problem when we bought our new TV with integral digibox. We had to get a bloke with a long ladder to come and fit some special aerial which fixed part of the problem, but there were still some channels we couldn't get. Aerial man had to come back and put a booster on it. It works fine now.

If it was OK up until recently then have you damaged or upset the aerial lead/connector?

Ours is still pretty bad despite new aerial and a booster. Some channels we can't get at all when it's raining but are fine on dry days .

I have an areal and booster for terrestrial channels.
It was all Ok until I removed the video from the set up. I doubt any wires were damaged as nothing was really done to them.

OK - I'm presume you've made yourself a tin-foil hat to stop your thoughts inteferring with the signal?

Do you have a windband aerial? That's what we were told we needed

Funnily enough, I have a photo of lois's dad, taken right after she interrupted his train of thought...

It's OK... it appears she has no discernible brain activity anyway.

Actually I think you'll find that that picture was taken on 31/12/2003 at 23:11:55 by a Canon PowerShot S100 with an Aperture Value of f/2.8, a Focal Length of 5.41 mm and a shutter speed of 1/30sec.

Also present at that party was Dan, his GF, Les, Hilarie, Jeramy, Rachel, Dasan, Lisa, Tanya, Noel and Steve plus a host of others.

I think there is a postcode check for freeview, check to see if you are in an area that is supposed to get it clearly.

So the booster is boosting the terrestrial channels but not the Freeview? If the freeview was running through the video before it went the way of the dodo, the freeview signal would've been boosted.

I'm guessing boosting the freeview signal would help...

(I assume a freeview signal can be boosted?)

I'm covered by freeview according to that.

How can my video have boosted it and is there a way to recreate that?

My own experience with digital TV is that when we moved to the place we're in now, we needed the ariel as high as possible plus booster plus large ariel. During the winter months everything was fine, but around June/July the signal would start breaking up. Come the winter, everything was OK but the next year, problems started again at the same time of year. I checked to see if we were in a good signal reception area and was told we were. Also checked with neighbours and they were experiencing the same problem, so despite being told we could receive the signal...for 2-4 months of the year we can't.
In the end I gave up and got Sky.

Have you tried retuning the channels, just in case it's lost its memory somehow? (You know, the initial set up thing.)

I've re-scanned for new channels. Will give it a go though!

Its all in the aerial, don't spend anything less than £40 on a good one and mount it as high as poss.
