So not a great pie , a top range supermarket one . It comes in a cardboard box and sits in a foil tray . It's frozen from our freezer.
I read the instructions. Best coked from frozen, 55 mins ,180 in a fan oven . I warm up the oven.

The instructions then say remove all packaging and place on a metal tray in the centre of the oven.

50 mins later I look and it's mostly on the bottom of the oven. When it says remove all packaging, does it not mean what it says .
Wife says I am an idiot. Cook the pie in the metal tray. What else does remove all packaging mean ?

Remove all packaging, except the metal tray . Albeit we didn't tell you that bit . It's like the garage who says we have done everything to your car it's all done , except the water pump that's on back order .

What would you have done if it were a top crust pie?

They aren't real pies.

Quiche instructions always tell you TO REMOVE the foil tray.

To be fair "remove ALL packaging" does mean foil tray whether intended or not.

I just got the packet out the bin to check.
It says remove all packaging.

It does not say remove all outer packaging, it does not say cook in the foil tray. It says remove all packaging.
I have time and I am going to write to the manufacturer.

I am sure they are currently assembling their strongest team of lawyers.

I cook pies out of the tray but on a flat baking tray.

Helps avoid soggy bottoms.

I bought an individual steak pie from Morrisons this week. It was pretty dire. 4 chunks of "meat" 3 of them gristle. Thick uncooked pastry bottom (Bugger! I'd left it in the foil tray").

Dog was happy she got most of it. Half the price of one from the local butchers BUT a fraction of the yummy pieness.

Go on OP get that letter written. More of us should do that sort of thing.

He'll probably receive a voucher for more pies that include incorrect instructions. And so it continues.... biggrin

So how did it end on the bottom of the oven if you put it on a baking tray in the middle of the oven? This does not compute?

Honestly if you cant cook a pie you shouldnt be on Pistonheads.

This food and drink section is under the pie and piston section of the forum.

You don't sound harsh. I do near all the cooking. Have done for the last 35 years. It's rare for me to buy a supermarket pie and cook it. But the instructions are incorrect, as you can see.
E mail sent to manufacturer and Supermarket. No doubt free pie or vouchers next week. Or perhaps a guest slot on MasterChef, an interview on morning TV and my own mini series on Dave. Weekly article in the Daily Mail to follow. Piers Morgan will have to make way for me.
I will let you know.
