A bit of a refresh of the scabby arse end... I think they are worth saving.

The hub carriers came up nice with a bit of glass bead. A couple of the brake backplate bolts sheared during dissasembly, so a visit to the tame welder at work, to weld some nuts on the stubs, he had them out as easy as kiss my hand smile
The rest of the rusty mess is away being blasted and powder coated.

Good work, any more pics of the car? I had one 12 years ago and I’ve got the hankering for another one

Here she is before surgery.

Some stuff came back, but unfortunately the fellow misplaced my box with another 18 smaller parts in it, so they never got done... at least he found the box, but I have to wait a bit longer for the rest of it.
I pressed new bushes in what I have.

I did the front end last year. New V mounts and subframe bushes, engine mounts, wishbone bushes, ball joints, wheel bearings, steering rack roll bar bushes and drop links, new discs, rebuilt the callipers. Basically everything.

Phew! These boogers were tight! A bit of mackling required to stop the spanner slipping off the very thin Hex, plenty of heat, and a good thwack with my big copper mallet, and hey presto! smile

It all looks very nice in there, and only a bit of fine sludge on the magnet.

Another pic of the Old Girl, the Saphire blue really pops in the sun, going almost black when it's dark.

Nice arse smile

Stunning. The colour works so well with the car. I’ve started looking at ads, there was just something about my old one that got under my skin and they have aged so well. Prefer them to the X350 despite those having a few more modern toys

Yes I hear people say the 350 is a better car.
I've never driven one, but a car has to please my eye, and I think they lost the shape with the 350.
I always find myself looking back at this one as I walk away.

IMO the X350 looks like a modern car made to look like a moody Jag, whereas the X308 is a moody Jag.

Thank you Sir smile the photos make it look better than it is, but it's my daily driver ( or it was untill I took it apart!) so I can't get too precious about it, I just want it to drive good, and everything to work as it should.

Agree. The x350 is a better car and the later x351 a massively better car but these look more like they car they intended to be whereas for me the 350 is a pastiche of the style much like the Rover 75 and S-type etc.

These are worth saving and are infinitely better than the 300 and XJ40

I’ve driven a X350 V8 sport and the 2.7 Tdvi. The interior was more modern and the headlights and others new tech made for a more enjoyable experience but they lack the charm of the X308

I collected the rest of the parts from the powder coating fellow.
They came up nice considering the state they were in when I dropped the off.
