Not my S2 thankfully. My sons 1.5Lsi civic was blowing loads of blue smoke out the tail pipe. Two possible answers-valve stem seals or piston rings. Got the engine striped out now. I remember something about putting WD40 or the like in the bores to see if it soaks away to check if the rings are worn. Does this sound correct? Maybe I am remembering something totally wrong. Thoughts would be appreciated..T

My old test was to do a dry compression test and then squirt a bit of engine oil down the bore and retest.
Obviously, if no difference, valves, if a difference, rings

Usually if it is valve stem seals the car will smoke when first started but then clear once the oil that has seeped through is burnt off. Would think the seals and guides would have to be very worn to cause it to blow a lot of smoke all the time.

I have just remembered that this was a secondhand engine you bought.
I wonder if it was hanging around for a while and the valve seals went hard, or oil rings are gummed up.
Maybe a dose of redex could help if it's rings.

Think I had already decided it was the rings, far too much smoke for the stem seals. Wanted someone to tell me what I already knew. Trying too source gasket set for rebuild now. Cheers all!
