Alarm Sensitivity
Discussion
Does anyone have a sensitive alarm. This morning when Mr Alloypearltam went to work as he closed his car door, the alarm on the Tam went off.
He has just gone out now and this time it is going off when he opens his car door.
To give you an idea his car is parked right next to the Tam.
Is there anything that can be done without doing a 200 mile round trip to our dealer?

Mine is exactly the same and so was the one before that etc etc etc.
Everytime i open the garage door off goes the alarm.
There is a n adjustment on the sensitivity, i believe its located on a small black box on the central transmission tunnel somewhere, i think you have to remove the leather clad cover which surrounds it to get at it.

Hello.. it is possible.. but not that easy.
There is an adjustment you can do on the internal sensor - but this is very difficult to get to. Its located under the central console - you need to remove the ashtray and undo a butterfly nut. Once undone you can then lift up the central console and
un-hock a catch at the rear. However by undoing the gear stick knob and handbrake lever it moves further up. Once underneath there will be a small box (cigarette packet size) on which is an adjustment - turn it all the way to zero/off. Unfortunately in some Tamora/350s they sensor was placed under
the stereo - which is very difficult to get and you also need to remove the stereo.
Depends on how bad it is - might be worth taking it to the dealer to do.. although I did it !!
Hope this helps..

That's handy to know, as my alarm never goes off - but apparently it's an incremental alarm by which I mean it needs repeated activations over a short period of time, which builds up the response until it reaches a threshold which triggers the woo woo noises. Or so I was told by a reliable ex-TVR mechanic.

Now he's just come back and it hasn't gone off.
That's because his body mass density is now over the critical threshold due to excess cocoa products probably
Body mass increased due to amount of stella broght back from shop with said chocolate!

In the meantime before you get it to a dealer, if you can find the sensors stick a bit of tape or blu-tack over them, that way the slight changes in air pressure that are currently triggering it wont do so.
Obviously not a permanent solution though!
Its a microwave based system. No visible sensors to tape over.
