Jaguar XK8 1997

Hello! Bit of a random one but any help would be appreciated.

My uncle who lives in Hong Kong is leaving to live in Australia and can’t take his jaguar with him because it would be too expensive to take. He’s looking around £10,000 to take it to Australia with him.

He asked me if I would like to take it free, but I have to pay for the shipping and import charges. I also have limited parking in my area so I may need to look into buying some sort of garage. The ballpark figure I’ve been given for importing is £5,000.

My question is does anyone know roughly how much this car is worth? If I could in theory buy one for £7-9k theres no point in me importing this one.

I know it’s in good condition, but I’m not sure on the mileage. Any sort of estimate is appreciated!

Just have a look at autotrader for comparison. Decent condition XK8 can be had for 7-9K (or even less) yes. If you'd like one this might still be a good way of getting into one though as you know what you're getting for the money and it probably has little rust? If it's a nice colour and spec that could be a good way to waste a few grand.

Most early 97 XK8s are about 2-3K as in the UK they suffer badly with rust. A Mint Hong Kong car should be worth 5-7K As a buy to flip its a definite No! As a buy to keep mint it should in the future give a return for your cash
