Morning all,
so we're still looking for our next car, we had some great suggestions last time around but have decided to up the budget to £15,000 having not found too many vehicles in the £10k bracket.

Our requirements:
Heated seats - ideally electronic memory adjustment too
Heated windscreen
Big Boot for 2 labs
must be auto

previously we were going to use it to take our mountain bikes out but I've just had a tow bar fitted to the caravelle and bought a bike rack - the bus is going to be the day trip/mountain bike wagon, the car will be dog trips/school runs/day to day driver/office runner etc.

Now my wife and I both work from home so fuel consumption isn't absolutely top of the list, but obviously is something to consider.

I also bought a 2 door dog cage (at no small expense!) but the dogs don't like it, it takes away too much space for them, so I'll likely just get a divider in the next vehicle.

I've seen this:
https://www.binksofbeccles.co.uk/used-cars/land-ro...
but do worry about the reliability of Land Rovers.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202411146...
or this, but I wonder if the boot is a tad too small.

Open to options, I've found alot of potentials but the Heated Windscreen is my main stumbling block being an optional extra on alot of vehicles.

We disregarded the Discovery 4 as it was bloody enormous! whilst we do drive the caravelle daily, the Disco 4 just seemed so much bigger and just wasn't going to work. Now we're not intending to haul the bikes too we don't mind going slightly smaller.

Having a lower boot lip would also be usefull, so an estate isn't out of the question as long as it's wider in the boot space.

Ford Edge might be worth looking at. They only made them 2016-19, won’t cost the earth to run, should be reliable more so than a RR anyway, decent mpg avg 35, though some say the 2l diesel is a bit sluggish, decent spec from a titanium model, auto, heated seats & front screen, huge boot.

Yeah don’t mind the edge, not many about though (probably why they discontinued them)
But yeah ticks a lot of boxes certainly

We recently bought a 15 reg Discovery Sport with full LRSH, great spec car, the good thing is that its the 2.2 rather than the 2.0 IngeniBoom engine!
I would never have bought one with the 2.0d Ingenium engine.
The only thing with our 2.2 is that they aren't ULEZ compliant as Euro 5, not sure if that's an issue or not. They also only made the 2.2 until 2015.

Have a look at the Travall Dog Guard, you can also get the divider for it which splits the boot 50:50

Subaru Outback?

Petrol is the better option, CVT gearbox might be a stumbling block for some

We're on our 4th(3 petrol,1 diesel) so clearly they work for us

XC60 MK1 with a Winter Pack?

Super comfortable seats in the R Design.

It's whether the boot is big enough for your 2 labs.

We got a 2.2 Disco Sport recently too. Really pleased with it. I like how you can slide the rear seats around either to make more boot space or rear leg room.

The boot is not huge though, I reckon a friends Skoda Octavia has more luggage space for two doggos

Seriously?

We have had a Firefox/large black lab with our Toller in the back of a Golf and ID3

Why do you need/want a heated windscreen?

Yes. I was more thinking the size of any cage.

How old are your Labs? How fit are they. Jumping in/out of an estate is far better for hips and shoulders than in/out of an SUV. Plus invariably an estate has more room.

Good ole Passat Estate/Superb/Octavia would do perfectly.

Or an Outback if you want some SUV ish ness.

What are your requirements? Mileage? Diesel / petrol? Age?

Same position as yourself last month.

We went a 2015 BMW X3 for £11.6k, 81k miles, FSH and it has been a fantastic choice. The 2L diesel and ZF gearbox are brilliant together.

Lexus RX 450h

Probably find a facelifted model with that budget too.

One of the most reliable cars you can buy, lots of space, big boot, auto.
