Wet and Forget

Hi,

Does anybody have any experience using Wet and Forget, specifically around overspray into lawns and plants. My patio slopes down to the lawn so there’ll be inevitable run-off. The faq’s say avoid getting on plants but also say it can be used to remove moss from lawns!!

You can also use BAC50 from ebay / garden centres, as Wet and Forget is literally just that, watered down for 90% extra on the price

Following as I bought some for the patio slabs but haven't used it yet. My mate swears by it and uses it on his caravan at the end of the season to clean it up and stop the moss forming. He has plants around the base which don't seem to have been affected much but I've not looked too closely so don't take comments as a license to spray and pray.

I use a paintbrush rather than a sprayer near plants just in case

Dilute BAC50 yourself for exactly the same rusults far cheaper.

It won't kill plants and grass, but I would try to not pour it over plants or grass. I just mix bac50 in a watering can and pour it over whatever I want to remove moss and algee from.

Is it good for removing ‘big’ moss from rooves(roofs?) as well?

Works on algae/moss - typically within a couple of days (dont do it if rain is due). Works well.

I might try some on the car to get rid of the moss……i never wash it

Interested in how you get on, I'm in the same position and moss/algae doesn't come off too easy with just the wash mitt.

Not sure about killing plants, I believed that and used BAC50 on the paving at rear with it and 6 months later one of my 10 year old hornbeam was brown and dead , the one in the corner that would have had all the run off off from anything put on the paving Im sticking to plain water and a jet wash this year.

I've used Wet & Forget before with good results (especially on timber). Have just got another 5 litres to see me through this year and a coat or 2 on the patio.

Don’t know about run off into plants, but I have used it on our paving, plastic roofing and roof lights and outdoor canvas covers and it has worked well

A good clean with a jet wash is more appropriate.

Wet & Forget (BAC50), is designed to kill algae over a long period of time.

From their website -
‘ Wait Time: Green algae typically disappears in a few days to weeks, while black mould/lichen may take a few months.’

On a non porous surface like a car it will simply wash away at the first sign of rain or you wash the car.

My convertible roof edges had some mould along the window seals etc, as it lives in the shade much of the time.

My detailer recommended Milton sterilising fluid (for babies bottles) just wipe it on at the start, leave for 10 mins and continue to wash car as normal

I had it made up for spraying the deck so painted a bit neat on the roof gutters to see. Tomorrow is full wash and polish day so it may or may not do anything, if it stops the blotches coming back a bit then great.
