Apologies if this has been covered before - I'd be surprised if it hasn't - I understand this is a common problem. As long as I've had it, my F has, if unused, drained its battery in 2 - 3 weeks. Battery age makes no difference - even brand new ones go flat. Anybody know what causes it and how it can be stopped ?

Nope, gave up trying to find it and just disconnect the battery if i'm not using it for a while!

Thanks Steve - it's a pain. I have, though, found a simpler way round the problem - just take out the alarm system fuse ! It's in the fuse box in the front of the car (not the engine compartment as the handbook says) and is the 5th fuse from the side of the car - 15amp.
Not only does this stop the battery drain, it also prevents another of MGF's blessings - the unwarranted sounding of the alarm caused by external noise eg heavy rain. Yes, it does mean the car is not defended against entry - but it won't be stolen because, with that fuse out, the engine won't start.
