I’m in the market for a new soundbar, I’m not a massive audiophile and have a Sonos one which I find more than suitable for my needs

I had a listen to a beam in John Lewis at the weekend and for my small living room think it will be perfect

The question is, do I now go the whole hog and get a mini sub and 2 era 100 for rear speakers? Seems good value at £1200 on the Sonos website, but do they ever do discounts?

Is it worth going for the arc ultra over this set up?

I have the beam in the living room paired with 2 ikea symfonisk wall shelf speakers for a fraction of that price. Does the job for my uncultured and old ears.

Discounts tend to be available for Black Friday. It’s also worth keeping an eye out for refurbs as they do appear. I’d buy the beam and add when you can at a discount. The Arc is a beast and overkill for most people, especially if you’re adding the Sub and surrounds.

I replaced a Playbar with a Beam which felt like a downgrade sound wise, although the beam is more modern and supports more formats. What I found the biggest upgrade was the sub, expensive but made a large difference to both TV and music. I have a couple of the Ikea surround speakers which make a difference but nothing like the sub.

If you have an account with Sonos and your current product is registered with them they will offer you a discount to upgrade.

I got 30% off for a friend of mine. Annoyingly it is based on what products you have so the rest of my Sonos gear is only showing a 20% upgrade discount.
