Utter filth.

Health Minister Andrew Gwynne Sacked for Abusive Whatsapp Messages

Rightly sacked - I wonder how long this had been going on for and who ratted him out.

They look like adults but these people generally have student union levels of sophistication.

I’m no labour supporter but I would be far more concerned how the Mail gained full access to a private WhatsApp group that clearly just by the name of it is not a serious discussion group.

An immediate sacking is an improvement.

He clearly thought nobody would ever find out.

A weasel word apology on Twitter about "badly misjudged" messages - no they're not they're abhorrent.

Probably from another member of the chat group.

Presumably other, more responsible and less bigoted members of the group reported him .

If they really were "more responsible and less bigoted" they'd have reported him to the Labour party, or the Standards Committee. In which case did they blow the whistle because they reported and no action was taken, or because they're venial sacks of st themselves?

Doesn’t read that way to me.

“The MoS gained access to thousands of messages from the closed group, which was set up in 2019, and discovered a barrage of abusive texts.”

That makes it ok then?

Seriously, this is someone who was supposed to be of a standard to be a health minister.
Maybe labour should employ the team reform used before the last election for their screening, now they appear to have upped their game?
Where did I say that?

You appear to be wanting some sort of mind reading thought police however.
Or indulging in faux outrage.

Either way it came to light and he has been sacked and suspended from the party. Aside from a being hung at dawn I’m not sure what you expect?

If others in the group have been complicit they should be kicked out too. But presumably that information isn’t to hand currently.

It probably is but the press now release it a bit at a time for maximum clicks and to see if others jump before they are pushed.
Once again 3 year Keir is found wanting in his judgement. This guys previous behaviour alone should have made him a no no for any position in government. It is not as if Keir doesn't have 400 MPs to choose from but time and again he gets it wrong.

Agree that ultimately it is his decision but he also has to rely on a team to do due diligence...

So you are far more concerned about how journalists found out about a Labour minister’s comments about hoping that pensioners that didn’t vote Labour die before the next election than you are about the comment from a member of this government hoping pensioners die before the next election? I suggest you you get your priorities in order…

Being serious for a minute there are a lot more of these sort of groups around. Going back ten years or so there was an anti Labour one on Facebook in the Blackpool area. Exceptionally vile comments towards the then Labour Leader of the council including stuff aimed towards his children.

I’m saying that all you (we) have are a number of cherry picked quotes without any context of their posting in a clearly private group that were not meant for general consumption. Even the Labour Party themselves have not seen the full content from the news articles posted.

My guess is that this a private group that makes exceptionally poor attempts at satirical humour between themselves as a distraction from the real world and that it has been hacked by the MoS.

Crap private humour is just that. Hacking of private correspondence though is a criminal act.

I find it odd that the original article has basically told you what they have done and that you find it acceptable.
