ANY IDEAS - OIL LIGHT
Discussion
Had a service on the Tuscan a few weeks ago and had the oil pressure sender replaced due to the old one leaking. I used to show 47-49psi on acceleration but it now only peaks at 35psi and the oil light comes up at 5000rpm. The engine is running perfectly well with no unusual noises apart from an annoying flat spot at 5/5500rpm which I am told is not there by the garage that serviced it after driving the car for themselves. Anybody got any ideas or know of a common fault, or should I be preparing my advert for sale now?:scratchchin:
Hi, I think it is a common thing. After getting the oil pressure sender replaced on my Tuscan the oil light flickered at high revs. I have heard of at least two or three others who have had the same problem.
That said however, there is a tiny chance that the two occurances and you may have another problem, so is still best to get it back asap just in case.

My car's engine was rebuilt 1500 miles ago and like you i was worried when the oil light came on under hard acceleration after running in period. i rang the garage (after posting here) and Peninsula say that the light is there to warn of low pressure i.e. under 5 psi and as mine comes on at say plus 35 psi it is not a problem. On tick over after very recent rebuild at operating temp 10 to 13 psi at 70mph in top 30 psi and under harsh acceleration 35 to 45psi. I am told this is about right. For what its worth...
