Anyone else find it infuriating when dealers put up their adverts on Autotrader with pics to follow ?
And then the pics take forever to actually appear and sometimes they never do ranting

The car will have just been purchased and not arrived yet or is in preparation. If the spec, colour and price are right lots of people will reserve before pictures are taken.

Yes, very much so. There are three more annoyances as well: Ads which use up several ‘frames’ telling you how good the garage is and the warranties and finance it offers The third is ads from major national outfits which squeeze an ad into the search which is a different make and model from the one you entered. Then there are ads where you enter 25 miles as the search area - fine, unless you are looking for an exotic- and one or more come up at the other end of the country.

I think this is a bit of a losing strategy for the dealer because they waste their spot on the 'most recent' side of things and makes the car look like it's been for sale longer than it has.

From the dealers perspective, they want to expose the car to as many potential customers as possible, so it absolutely makes sense to get the advert up asap, without pictures if need be.

Who needs pictures?
We know what a VW looks like.
Any car can look OK with a competent photographer.

Yep when the description says nothing about the car and just bangs on about how good the dealer is and what they offer !

You can see a lot from pics, condition of wheels, what tyres it’s got, panel gaps, interior condition, All from studying pics

They do it because they buy advertising as a "block" of, say, 20 cars per month. Better to have an advert slot with something in that not use it at all.

Annoys me when Car dealer websites still show cars in inventory that are SOLD. Just remove them.

I still see the occasional ad on AT where the trader has still got the Covid text images attached saying how your car will be collected / delivered in a fully Covid compliant manner, fully sanitised, social distancing at all times, etc. Really makes you wonder how many of them actually check those images and just get them auto attached as part of some automated listing setup as it's been a few years now hehe
