I can't seem to find any crash test results from Europe or the US for the Elise/Exige S2?

Has it ever been tested? And if not why not?

There is one for the S1 on one of the videos about the Elise. Not sure they did the S2 seperately as its the same tub. Dunno about the US. They may have got some strange excemption.

There is no Euro NCAP test though, and I doubt it would pass particularly well as its hardly focussed around pedestrian safety etc...

as above - theres no official Euro NCAP one....but the S1 crash at 30mph into stationary object actually broke the mould as the first car ever to survive and be driven away from such an incident...even better than Volvo or Saab.........

to be honest - if you are remotely worried about this kind of thing then Id buy a Volvo or Saab ! ...driving a lightweight sportscar and begin worried about safety dont go together !

Pretty sure the Macca F1 was the first car to be driveable away, and that there were others, but what the hell, its a good story.

p.s. I suspect it was a loose definition of drivable

The rad will have gone so they probably mean it was pushable with ease!

However, I suppose if you wanted to add HGF to your woes it was driveable!

Need to be careful here: Euro NCAP is not related to the 'official' crash test required for Type Approval. The Elise must have been through the official test, even though it has not been through Euro NCAP.

That's not necessarily a good thing. You can build a strong car which suffers no significant external damage in a collision but that does not mean it will protect the occupants.

as said, *all* cars have to go though crash tests to get Homologated for use in the EU.

US have the same rules, only their tests are slightly different (hence the Elise in the US had to get exemptions from some of the detailed stuff like zero damage in the 5mph test etc)

all in all, having seen what happends to them when they are crashed, they have to be one of the safest cars out there, the only bit that scares me is stuff comming in over the top of it, they really are very strong in all other respects.
