I need something to temporarily give me access to a distant (100 metres) WiFi.

I have to work from a garden room for about a month while work is happening.
Ideally I'd like some sort of directional unit that I can point at the house that has a standard RJ45 network outlet that I can plug my MacBook into.

I will cable if necessary, but would prefer a new toy smile

Thanks

Will cellular not work?

I can get 200Mb speed on 5G, which is 5 times faster than my copper broadband at home.

Tether to your phone and keep it on charge. You can still take calls.

Try a fast.com reading out there.

I bought a pair of these 2-3 years ago to get wifi around my farm. I installed them, set them up and have never had to touch them again... they have been utterly faultless. I have full speed internet between the "air bridge", couldn't recommend them enough, but you would need a direct line of sight. I have them mounted on two buildings with the poles which you may get separately.

I used a couple of these to cover a long distance. Not using them any more if you are interested?

I use a pair of these.

Excellent pieces of kit. Need aligning nicely, but work well.

Can you just lash a CAT6 cable in if it's only for a month?

You tried Powerline?

TPLink do a very useful set:

My garden room has one of these left from last owner - I can’t for the life of me how to set it up!

KuWFi Outdoor Wireless Bridge, 300Mbps WiFi Bridge,Indoor&Outdoor Point to Point Wireless Bridge Support 1KM Long Distance for Starlink Router, CCTV&Surveillance Camera, Ideal for Garden,Farm

£50 for the pair, Amazon.

I use them for a 100m link, through many trees. Been working perfectly for around 5 years or more. One on the wall of the house, one on a long pole at the far end, powered by a 12v car battery and solar

For just a month, I'd be looking at running an ethernet cable too, or powerline, or seeing if a mesh device will reach. If you already have e.g. Deco mesh, I can get a signal between two Deco mesh devices at around 100m outdoors.

Directional wifi will do 1500m, so I think you'll probably be okay with omnidirectional and clear line of sight on an external antenna.

You could of course do the old Pringles tuba yagi antenna thing.

Do you have a Unifi controller running the Network app?
