Motability scheme delivery times
Discussion
I'm trying to help a relative out. They are in the unfortunate position of qualifying for a motability car and they need a car quickly. They've never had a motability car before.
I've spoken to a couple of local dealers and other than one who had a cancelled order all were quoting long deliver times based on factory orders.
My relative just needs standard cheap transport, they aren't going to be able to work again so other than me chipping in a small advance payment its just the basic options big enough for a wheelchair in the boot.
Is there any way of finding out what is available quickly other than ringing each individual dealer?

I'm a motability user, and I'm afraid with experience - no, there's no clear way.
When I was looking at Motability cars a few months ago, Renault had quite a few cars for immediate availability.
You should also call Motability to ask if they have any advice.
I would also ask on here:

As they're a good bunch of knowledgable folk.

It really a case of checking all dealers with what’s available. I got lucky with my Born as there was one available in spec but was still a 3 week wait.
You could possibly look on dealer websites for what new cars are available in bulk on a forecourt then see if there’s a corresponding car on Motability and then enquire down that route.
