VWFS LEASE EXTENSION

Hello Folks
I've got a lease expiring next month, however VWFS have seemed to changed their process or seem to have. They're saying they no longer offer informal extension. They only do 6 to 12 month formal extension at the same monthly price and mileage. Anyone managed to negotiate a better rate under the new system?
The last few I've had from them, I was able to extend at a cheaper price.
