DIY Air intake modification
Discussion
Checked the airfilter on my 2024 car and found a surprising amount of dirt and even small debris inside the airbox, considering the low mileage. The cause fmpov is the oem air intake behind the lh rear window routes down into some kind of space inside the lh wheel arch and another pipe goes upwards into the airbox. As that space is poorly sealed a lot of sand, dust and even small debris gets finally sucked into the airbox. Furthermore I noticed when the engine is shut down and the bay vents are blowing, some amount if hot air is coming out if the air intake.
Found that DIY modification here when searching the internet. The only downside might be a too present intake noise and water entering when driving in heavy rain.
Any opinions?

The back of the vent is blanked off by a small panel to direct air down into the wheel well area.
It's held on with three rivets, which will need drilling out to do. Likely some panel bond to deal with also.
Couple of places sell a carbon piece to put in its place that allows the pipe to be attached.
Is something that looks good, but is not an easily reversable mod.
