Leasing - Invalidating the warranty. (Hypotherical)

I'm never going to lease (unless its heavily subsidised) so it's academic but....
I assume the leasee carries all the mechanical risk, but that doesn't matter becaise the warranty will deal with that.
However, what happens if the leasee has a late service and then the engine goes bang? Leasee pays?
