We've got a long weekend coming up in May, staying in an apartment in Charlotte St. Would welcome recommemdations for decent places to eat ideally with good fish options. Quality over quantity preferred. Many thanks.

If you can get in, right about now Skof is the hottest ticket in town. Otherwise you have The Sparrows, Higher Ground, Another Hand. I'm not sure about seafood options I'm afraid.

Hawksmoor on Deansgate. Great room, the steak is always good and they do pay attention to fish options. Hake, monkfish and lobster available for mains.

Personally I'm a big fan of Erst. It is a natural wine bar/restaurant that serves sharing plates. Always enjoyed both the food and the service and of course the wine.

Our current "go to" Chinese restaurant is Home. It's on Chorlton Street so not far from where you are staying.

The service can be slow but it's a cut above the norm and we had some excellent turbot there recently.

I'm a big fan of El Gato Negro, but sadly not been for years now!

We're here now with unexpectedly good weather! Had dinner in Kala on Thursday which was decent brasserie food although surprisingly dead for a Thursday.

Last night we went to Tepenyaki in Chinatown which was ok, more theatre than exciting cuisine. Had a nightcap in Blinker bar that served decent cocktails and wasn't full of drunks - would go back.

They've got a Browns in central Manchester. Always a reliable choice, with good seafood always on the menu and normal bistro type prices.

I went there just a week ago as it happens.

The service speed was dire, cleary deliberately so to extract as much money as possible as it was a company event and, well, hey-ho, let's keep them waiting so they rack of a huge drinks bill. And once they are suitably oiled, bring out more bottles of wine, opened, that no one asked for, or is even likely to drink, but it's all on the bill.

I have to say the food was actually very good, when it came, but what a money making set-up. Seemed to be the place for your Instagram posts.

Oh, that's a shame. We've never experienced that, but absolutely understand for some it's a 'place'.

I pretty much spent 9 months living in the Hilton on Deansgate, and going into the main or the Ciccetti opposite for a rich, tasty and enjoyable meal was something I had to ration before I became a huge biffa! As you say, the food is very good indeed.
