Hello guys, I had a Stinger GTS for 2 1/2 years 2019-2021 and started a Readers’ Cars thread:

https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

During this time, other PH Stinger owners helped the discussion along, and several more bought Stingers as we went along.

I sold mine in September 2021, but wonder how many of you guys are still running yours, and how they are going?

@Banzibarn
@ODono
@Nuclear Biscuit
@EastYorksUK
@Danum Alba
@Dracoro
@puss
@mph

And are there others who have picked one of them up since?

Cheers!

What did you replace it with? Any regrets?

I was looking at your post earlier and noticed you'd sold it and got a 530e, which didn't last long and you've moved on to a C43 estate? How did you find the 530e? I'm guessing you didn't gel with it. The Kia and the BMW were on my list for my next daily, as is an XFR. Bit of a spread so I'm trying to do my due diligence!

BMW 530e which lasted 12 months. Quality product, 67mpg all round, but powertrain not for me after the Stinger. The 4-cylinder engine sounded strained under power.

Servicing was very pricey too, even at an Indy and made the £1019 Kia Stinger 3-year, 6-service deal seem a bargain.

Then we got a dog! Needed a hatchback. Bought a Skoda Superb L&K 272 (mapped it to 350bhp) and had a great time with it for a while. Had ALL the toys like the Stinger and similar go. Great for the dog too.

But, it was a ‘Friday Afternoon Car’ and things kept going wrong with it. This was really disappointing and, having had several excellent Skodas before, surprising. It had to go.

I looked seriously at 2021 and 2022 Stingers again as I have really missed my old one. But, on the basis of ‘never go back’, I bought a 2021 C43 estate. It is an amazing car and the AMG Performance Exhaust really sounds amazing.

It made me realise that there is really no replacement for displacement! A cliché, but true for me.

I have had it a year and still have another year of AMG warranty.

But, I do miss the uniqueness and interaction with others that the Stinger brought. And I do look at those for sale regularly.

So, hence this thread / question to those other Stinger owners who were on the journey with me a few years back!

Those are all quite different cars. It depends on your usage case and your motoring ‘wants’ too.

I can tell you more about the 530e if the above post isn’t sufficient.

Thank you - I was looking at one last year with another potential being a Lexus IS as i wanted a fairly fast saloon but didnt fancy a bmw or audi. I like the rarity of the Stinger - i can only recall ever seeing maybe three or four on the road.

Sold a Tesla Model S P100D in 2022 and have had my 2019 Stinger since then - 32,000 miles covered, many services, a set of Michelin PS5 tyres early on, one set of brakes DIYd, and the usual sunroof noise turned up eventually last year - they did the official repair but it still creaks in certain weather conditions when it’s closed. I had over £1000-worth of chrome window trims replaced FOC too as they were looking a bit manky. Front strut top mounts have started creaking so I need to get them done under warranty too. Zero faults other than that.
It’s been great - bulletproof, comfortable, well equipped - it’s been to Portugal several times and it’s most definitely the Grand Tourer the badges suggest. Downsides - needs more noise.
Currently at 50,000 miles with just over a years warranty left - but I am looking at something to replace it, probably a V8 of some sort while we’re still allowed.

Hi Andy, I remember you saying you were really interested in them.

Sounds like you have enjoyed it since taking the plunge, and also that you’ve had the usual minor gripes too.

Agree, the V6 needs releasing a little, noise-wise!
The C43 has at least got that part very right!

I also understand the desire for a V8!

Just to add that I've bought one for collection in just under two week's time.

'69 plate low-miler in red.

After 8 years ownership of a Jaguar XF I figured it was about time for something similar-but-different....

I've been looking at these for a while. Annoyingly it's only the ones that are now out of warranty that seem to have come down in price. The rest seem resolutely stuck in the early to mid 20's.

Yes, they seem to be holding their value more than was predicted by many.

Good ones are also snapped up very quickly.
Good luck!

Do check the paint carefully - iirc Kia resprayed a lot of the 17/18 yellow Stingers due to poor factory paint.
Stingers are ace by the way smile

Thanks for the heads up I will give it a good check over. It’s a 19 plate with the different infotainment screen so hopefully it will be ok?

You weren't test driving it in Doncaster this weekend were you? I was behind a red 69 plate Stinger in my Jag, the rear looks great with the quad exhausts!

I didn’t know they did yellow as late as 2019 so I’d guess they’d sorted the problem by then.
I’m fairly sure it was just the first cars into the country that were affected.
