Power and the fag lighter

Picking up new toy on Sat and want to get one of those solar battery conditioners only need to know if the ciggy lighting is connected (i.e. live) when the ignition is off? Otherwise have to run cables to the battery and not sure i can do this without having them go outside of the car.

Anyone konw?

I use a trickle charger with the ignition off, which must be the same effect?

Hi Tom

My Road Angel plugs into the Cig lighter socket and it stays on when the ign is off. Never turn the Road Angel off (well unless I'm away on holiday).

let me know if it works - just came back to mine dead after doing the cannonball 8000. had not driven it for about 10 days. think batt is on it's way out, plus uprates alarm tends to slowly drain it.

Just got back from a week in Espana last night. Car was hooked up to an Acumate via the cigar lighter. Fired him up 1st time this morning, no problem. Nice to get into a car with decent power after a week in a hire car. Think the hire car goes faster though (well it did last week, dontcha just love abusing hire cars?, kept getting the upchange warning light to blink on almost every gear change. Never seen it blink on the cerb...yet)
