I had a quick look for a thread and did a search but surprised not to find one.

I adored the first Paddington film. It was also probably the only film in which the discussion on Pistonheads regarding the trailer before it came out was the usual 'it looks brilliant/it looks crap', but once the film actually launched there was an almost universal 'yeah, actually, it was brilliant', even from the detractors.

Then, with the help of Hugh Grant, they actually managed to top it for Paddington 2! Simply one of the funniest and best films ever.

By stark contrast, Paddington In Peru felt to me like a cash in, and a cop out. Not particularly engaging, not particularly funny, not particularly interesting. It really did feel like they had run out of ideas.

A great shame.

We watched this in the cinema when it first came out then happened to watch it again yesterday. Taking Paddington out of London does take away the spark of the first two somehow but it is still a very enjoyable film. I thought the change of actress for Mrs Brown jarred a bit as she seemed so different from the character in the first two films but I had got over that by the end of the film.

It is the least good of the three films but still very good family entertainment.

I think its biggest problem was having such big shoes to fill. I agree, judged on its own it was a perfectly reasonable and quite enjoyable film. But it totally lacked the brilliance of the first two, sadly.

I loved it

I thought Olivia Colman was great and I enjoyed the film all round even if it was a recycled story line

I still cried at the end and I’m fully grown man!

I thought it was boring and nothing like the first two. The mother was a big miss but wouldn't have made the story any better.

I was fighting back the tears! My 6yr old enjoyed it (although the bottomless pick n mix might've had a part to play in that) I thought it was ok, as above really, nothing new and a bit of a cash grab.

Same.

I went to the cinema to see it with my 2 (adopted) daughters, the ending got me!

We were so disappointed with this. I guess if 1 and 2 hadn't been so good, it might not have seemed so...average. But it was.

Felt the same, 1 and 2 are absolutely wonderful, nigh on flawless, family films.

Peru felt more like a cash in. We all came out feeling the same (me, wife, daughter) that it was “alright”.

We’ve watched the first few many, many (many!) times - a staple choice for our daughter for a long time. But we haven’t even purchased Peru since seeing it at the cinema - and she hasn’t asked either.
