I have recently sold a 2017 Jaguar XF S (petrol supercharged) which was a great all round car. Some great advice from here steered me towards one 3 years ago and I have to say it was great advice.

I have got an offer of a KIA Ev9 GT Line S through work as a company car which is interesting and initially I have said yes but I am now not quite so sure especially with our annual holidays to France / Italy. I can live with the 250 mile range just not sure if I am ready to go all in. A hybrid X5 could be an option but looking at the increase in BIK over the coming years it ramps up quite a bit.

So the alternative's I have been looking at are the following with a budget of around £35k, an absolute max of £38k and around 2019 / 2020 model year.

BMW 540i Touring
Mercedes E53 Estate
Jaguar F-Pace SVR

The BMW I can probably get a bit less than the other 2. I have avoided the slightly older RS6 and E63 mainly due to the unwanted attention they will inevitably bring, and in reality I don't need anything that quick. The Jag I feel for what it is would fly under the radar a bit, it sounds fantastic and insurance is surprisingly cheap.

I need something pretty big with tall almost adult children and trips to Europe a couple of times a year. I guess I am on the fence about a brand new electric SUV that I am sure will be very nice and will be super cheap to run with charging at home being no problem, and BIK is around £900 for the next year!. It feels like this is where we are going to have to be at some point in the future so why would I go in now before I have to.

I cant imagine I will get too many supporters of the Kia but any feedback on the 3 ICE options or anything that I may have missed?

Thanks.

I posted similarly the other day and ended up buying a Porsche Macan Turbo PP. Cross shopped it with FPSVR and Velar etc but ultimately this was imo the best interior and fun do everything car I could find for 35k or so.

Interesting, thanks never really thought of a Macan, always saw them as quite small. May be worth having a look at one at least!

It’s within about an inch of the f pace and has a bigger boot somehow. But if not you could have a look at a cayenne? I found it feeling too big personally but my use case is slightly different. Let us know what you chose smile

Gulia Quad too small?

Theres the Panemera hybrid, and also Volvo V90 T8 Hybrid which both shift but I'd probably go with an E63 touring or the Jag you've already mentioned, bit more exciting.

Would a RS7/S7/A7 be considered? Seems to get a little less attention than the RS6. And the load carrying capability of the boot is probably almost as good as the RS6, just a slightly smaller opening, which you won't really need unless you got buggies etc

Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT? If you squint it kinda looks like the Kia.

Of the three you mention the 540i would be my choice. Or for another option an E400d Wagon?
