I'm just coming out of my MK3 Focus RS and my budget will be around £25k, less is better but can also be stretched a little.
Needs to have enough space in the back for two car seats with adults fitting comfortably in the front as the RS was too squashed. A bigger boot would be a plus too.
I only do 4k miles a year but would Ideally like something newer with less miles than previous car which was 2016 & 54k.
I'm currently thinking M3's but had a few M lights of this generation so feel the interior is a bit too similar and a little dated now, also not sure if the ride may be too firm like the RS was.
Can't help but keep looking at Velar's as they seem very good value these days but not sure I'm ready to fully throw myself into a real dad car just yet! Plus I also hear they are very unreliable but at the same time see them everywhere so not sure what's the deal there?
I normally replace my cars every 2-3 years which is way I'm leaning more towards something big like the Velar while the babies are still in big car seats then buy a 911 when the kids are old enough to jump in the back themselves (We dream)
I live on the Isle of Man so the thought of the M3 for the 1 lap over the mountain at TT is very appealing ... its also feels wasted for the other 364 days a year.
Anyway looking for thoughts on the above as they are two very different ways of carrying the family around or is there anything else I should be looking at instead?

Skoda Superb with the golf R engine in it?
As much room as the kids will ever need and very discrete.

Actually really like this. Leaning more towards the fast estates. Thanks JonnyWhitters said:

Yes i am a subscriber, he does offer some great insights even though the reality of fitting 4 children into a Maserati Grand Turismo for the daily school run doesn't appeal much to me Worth a look, if you haven't already been over there

Something like an S4 Avant rather than the full fat RS4, allowing for your young children to have some form of space
Good call and maybe the fast estate is the way to go.There is another argument in that you won't always want to be driving in a spirited manner if you have the family in with you as well. So you could actually go for something "less" exciting to drive perhaps?
