We are looking for a new family car (currently have a Jeep Compass) but want to go electric. What are the best options

Great value for money in a used EV6 or Niro with balance of 7 year warranty.

Occasionally a new model or end of line will be available cheaply for Lease (Toyota Bz and old Leaf as examples).

Salary sacrifice can be tempting if a higher rate tax payer but be aware of the potential pensions implications.

You don't really mention what you need as a family car otherwise.

We are a family of four and only drive 5 miles to work (and 5 miles back) with a bit of running around at the weekend. We need the size as we have two growing boys, but we don’t need to do tonnes of long journeys

If looking at the Niro then worth looking at the Hyundai Kona too.

Old model is a smaller car, newer model is Niro sized.

Tesla Model 3s are probably the top of any list if you can do without a hatchback.

Practical, fast, handles well, decent real world range and is brilliant to live with.

Used car bargains as well.

now our CS work lease scheme has Ford Explorer Electric £170 month fully funded.

Range quoted as 370

Great I think.
Except NO UNIT attributed to the 370.

Of course it's KM they quote not miles.

An accident?

Or deliberate to make it look enticing?

Our work is in (very) rural areas and can be reactive.

Still looks a pretty good deal for an EV. V's HMRC 45ppm +5ppm equipment for an own car. (drops to 25ppm after10000m)

For any purchase, first thing I ask is. How much money do you want to spend?
For cars specifically, I'd ask do you want to buy outright or do you want to lease
If first option, then do you want new or do you want to buy used?
Depending on what you answer to the above, one can then form a more solid answer.
Otherwise, your answer can go from a used Leaf all the way to a BMW series 7 or a Lotus Eletre

Outside of lease deals which are best for LTD owners and salary sac schemes, there's bargains to be had at 6-24 months old.

24 reg lexus UX half price, 23 jag ipace £40k off, 23 plate model Y performance half price
