hello people...ive done a search on here but its not working for some reason?

Does anyone know who the best/cheapest insurance company to go for when insuring your cerbie?

Ive so far had quotes for a '97my 4.2 from £800ish to £1280!!

Im 25 with 5 years ncb, held my licence for 7 years, no points, convictions or claims etc in last 5 yrs (touch wood).

who have you guys found the cheapest? are there any specialists for cerbies out there?

Thanks

Try Sunninghill on 0870 787 8022 www.siblimited.co.uk
I've found them OK and it includes trackdays like C.R.E.A.M

Hi Liam, I'm on my dad's insurance as a named driver, best we could find was Tesco's at £688, that included the protecting of the no claims at £139, which seems a lot.

Plus he hasn't exactly got the best post code, I stayed there one night & someone nicked the mirrors off my Transit van, worse than that, they'd nicked the steering wheel as well.

My boss at the time asked it it was driveable

I think she had visions of me with a set of mole grips in hand.

Try Peart, they are a broker - sorry haven't got the number with me, but they easily beat any other quotes for me, also 97 4.2.

Try "Footman James & Company" & mention classic car insurance/ limited mileage scheme/ car clubs etc. I have a multi-vehicle classic car policy with them & added a 97 4.2 cerb on to the policy recently for £260 pa fully comp!
I was amazed too, snapped their hands off immediately before they changed their minds.

Would really recommend Aaron at Sunninghill too - inc NCB protection and track days were the best value and have a good understanding of mods/upgrades too.

I have just left Footman James as they wanted nearly £900 for a 6K limited milage policy on the Cerb', I couldn't understand that they weren't bending over backwards to keep me as a customer as I have two other policies with them, adding up to over £1000, and have been with them for over 5 years.

I had a quote from Norton which was incidentally the cheapest and is the same policy as Sunninghill (Charter Motor Ins'), but I just wasn't happy with what I was being told by Norton, so I went with Aaron at Sunninghill.

It looks like an excellent policy including track day cover with a sensible excess of £1000, if you can proove that you've participated in trackdays before, and £2000 if its your first time. A fully Comp', unlimited policy for £650.00. The track day cover is for all track days run by recognised organisations, unlike the Mannings policy that I believe only covers 'official' TVRCC days.

I was very pleased, and Aaron comes across as a very helpful guy.

try confused.com - it takes a while to enter all your details but it then searches loads of companies. The quotes we had ranged from £650 to £3,500

The other mainstreamer that often gets missed is Privilege - I've been with them now for ten years (since I first bought my own car) and they have been untouchable. 12k per annum on my Cerb behind eleccy gates but no garage was £470! They don't worry about young drivers, and use a 100-point scale for insurance groups instead of the more common 20, so you won't get lumped in the same bracket as Scoobabishi drivers.

Set me right if you've already tried, but A Manning UK Ltd specialises in TVR/Aston etc insurance as a broker. If you're registered with the TVRCC there is a considerable reduction in fees. I'd be interested to hear what you obtain as a quote.
Make sure you range the inquiry with varied mileage and excess, I tend to raise the excess to 500/800 - on the basis that anything less is usally more of a pain as much as an expense. I look at insurance as cover for major damage/accident/loss etc, rather than the nit-picking trivia.
