I was going to look into buying a tamora as in selling my chimaera or trading it in, 20-21k max is my budget and that puts me (private) smack in the 01-02 year, i.ve only just looked at the speed 6 forum and that's scared the sh*t out of me! think i'll mull it over now.

Whenever I get silly notions about trading in the Chimaera I phone my Tuscan driving friend and ask which number engine he's on.

So far it's his third.

while i do agree u cant run a tvr on a budget i've never considerd leaving 5k in a cooky jar for an engine rebuild, sure, u've got service tyres bits and bobs ect but to have to budget in 5k for if or should i say when the thing goes pop is not my idea of running costs, yes i could find the money from somewhere to rebuild it but it wouldn't be floating around in a tin can, and i'm not one thats scares easyl'y by a few poor souls that have had bad luck but from the threads i've red its more than that, wot a shame for all those people thinking of buying a speed 6 tvr (and selling) u guys should get a bloody medal from tvr for buying into that engine think i'll stick to my old tractor powered chimp for a bit.

I considered it too, but until they solve the chocolate engine problem I wont be going anywhere.

I may even invest some hard earned into a new engine for the chim. I can feel a 5.2ltr coming on!

Stick with what you have got. I'm 7.2K down or will be next week (when I go to pay and get it back) for a full top and bottom end rebuild plus new clutch :-( I'm still crying now as I only just spent 2.5K on it in June putting on Nitrons and other nice bits... I'm off to cry some more...

One year into Chimaera ownership and I'm still pleasantly surprised that nothing major has gone wrong (rushes outside to check).

Brings me down to earth every time.

He bought a two year old Tuscan with 6,000 miles on it. Week one the ecu packed up, week two recalled to have an oil seal fitted, week three aforementioned seal failed allowing all the oil to escape.

After negotiations with the dealer and TVR it was sent to Blackpool where it stayed for 12 weeks awaiting engine number two.

Three weeks ago he told me it needs a third engine. Couldn't establish exactly what's gone wrong this time, he's too pissed off to talk about it.
