Seat Leon or Ibiza which engine?
Discussion
Hi everyone
I have around 8k to spend and am looking at either the Leon or Ibiza petrol.Im clueless when it comes to cars so any advice on what engine I should be looking at.I believe the 1.4FR would be a good choice.I just want a nice reliable hatchback that’s not too bad on the eye .Any pointers much appreciated

I had a 1.4tsi 150 ACT Leon FR estate.
A peach of an engine, noticeably quicker than the lower power ones (125bhp?), but with ACT it was amazing on fuel when pottering. It just kicked in an out and immediately was doing a few mpg more. My 1.0tsi 110bhp Fabia does not do as many miles to the gallon, and certainly does not have the grunt. Really revvy and also quiet most of the time.
Mine was the 7sp DSG box which apparently should have blown up a few times during my ownership of it.
Rest of the car was good - comfy and supportive sporty seats, very clear controls, easy to live with day to day. Best handling car I have ever owned.
A few crap things - SEAT cannot design a good centre console and cupholders, the stereo was just about OK (but I came from a Volvo with a posh sound system), the tyre choice had a huge impact on road noise.

1.4 is plenty powerful enough.

Your 1.6 Astra perhaps didn't have a turbo?
