Quattroless Quattro
Discussion
I bought a 2012 Audi A3 from a work colleague last year fairly cheaply, never really thought about the Quattro system until i did a full code scan on it due to battery issues and it came up with a fault for the Haldex pump being open circuit.
Ive not tested the pump yet and they are not that expensive to replace but it just seems odd there was no indication it had failed, management light wise.
Just wondered if this was normal more for my curiosity really as it could be possible to buy a Haldex car with it not functioning properly and not really knowing.

On older Haldex equipped A3s and TTs this could happen due to the earth strap to the unit failing. Some of them earth through the mounts and these don’t give a great connection.
Worth getting it on a lift to check. I have repaired and serviced the gen 3 unit and they’re fiddly but okay. Parts are cheap enough.

I will have a look, oddly enough last summer there was a horrible smell that came through the car like electronics burning. I could find nothing obvious when I looked but maybe something on the Haldex Ecu got fried.
I checked the heater blower and resistor as I thought it was that but couldnt think of anything else.
