Transport Blocks = poor ride quality

I've very recently purchased a 9mth old (ex demonstrator) G42 M240i, with the electricronic damping control option. The ride felt a little 'odd' (harsh) even in Comfort setting, but I initially put that down to just learning about the car. Then I went over a speed bump - at walking speed - and crikey, it felt like I'd hit a curb.

A bit of web searching turned up 'transport blocks' possibly being the culprit - a couple of white nylon spacers, each 20mm deep, sitting under the shock dust boot, which are to be removed at the receiving dealership. And what do know, they were still there on the front shocks!!!

Ride has now been transformed as you would expect. So, before blaming your run-flats, you might want to check for transport block - jack the car up so the wheel drops enough to lift the dust boot. Heaven only knows how many potential customers were put off an M240i because of the hard ride test driving this one😲

There's been a bit of noise about this in the state on the GR Corollas.

I remember a few years ago there were a few VAG cars with them being left in too.

I remember a few Leon Cupras having them left in a few years ago. Dealer PDIs can be left wanting.

I bought a 2003 325i saloon back in 2008. The blocks were still there!
