Ive had a disco sport d180 se as a family car for 4 years now, its been faultless in its 35k miles, its been to lizard point, john o'grotes, lands end, wales, nc500, drifted in snow, forded rivers and green laned. Genuinely been a great car and it gets 50mpg in a motorway.

I really cant find much to replace it with considering the ridiculous prices of suvs now, i dont know how theres so many people paying 1k a month on 3.0d x5's!

We have a toddler and a greater swiss mountain dog, this puts all the smaller sized suvs out of scope as their boots are all significantly smaller than the sports, naturally youd go up to the bigger d5 but their reliability rep isnt great and im concerned about that route.

I looked at an x5 and x3 m40i, x5 was nice and big enough, x3 was too small. I also have a modified mk3 focus rs but i dont drive it much, was thinking to get rid of it and purchase a more sporty suv that does both jobs but it doesnt seem to exist?

The killer is we pay £325pcm on the disco from new without much of a deposit, anything new now is extortionate, infact i checked a disco sport and it was £600pcm!

If it does what you need and is reliable why bother changing it?

Not on a lease, and sometimes you just fancy a change, i dont get enough time in my personal fun car as i drive a van all week, so it would be nice to have a rip in the daily now and then, disco sport dont cut it as it has the grip of a fridge 🤣

Buy another car just for fun, eg a cheap hot hatch. I have 3 cars as discovered just one doesn’t cover all bases
